The Beginning
On 2nd August 2014, my birthday, my brother surprised me with a tiny puppy. I named him Noddy.
At that moment, I had no idea that I wasn't just bringing home a dog—I was bringing home my entire world.
Noddy became my mornings and my evenings. He became my happiness, my comfort, and my reason to smile. Watching him eat, play, run around the house, and follow me everywhere became the most beautiful part of my life.
People often say it's difficult to live without someone you love. For me, it was impossible to imagine life without Noddy.
He wasn't just a pet. He was my family. My best friend. My child.
The Day Everything Changed
Life, however, doesn't always go according to our plans.
On 1st April 2018, I lost Noddy forever.
It felt as if my soul had left my body. My entire world collapsed in a single moment.
I stopped talking to people. I didn't want to meet anyone. Every corner of my home reminded me of him. Every memory hurt.
I was completely broken.
Turning Grief Into Purpose
After a long time, I asked myself one question: "If I truly loved Noddy, shouldn't I do something meaningful in his memory?"
That thought led me to begin visiting the Gurudwara regularly. One day, I witnessed a stray mother dog giving birth to puppies. Instead of feeding the puppies first, I started feeding their mother. She had just brought new lives into the world, and I felt she deserved the most love and care.
As the puppies grew, I started feeding them too. Day after day, I became emotionally attached to them.
But fate had another plan. Some were killed in road accidents. Some died from Parvovirus. One by one, I lost almost every puppy.
Only one survived. I brought him home.
Today, his name is Damru, and he still lives with me as a member of my family.
They are not "stray animals."
They are someone's children too.
The only difference is that they cannot speak. I can tell people when I'm in pain. I can ask for help. I can explain my suffering.
But these innocent souls... They feel hunger. They feel fear. They feel pain.
Yet they have no voice to ask for help.
The Lockdown That Changed Everything
Then came 2020. During the COVID lockdown, while the world stayed safely inside their homes, these voiceless animals were left completely alone.
There was no one to feed them. No one to care for them.
I made myself a promise: As long as I have the strength, no hungry animal around me will sleep without food.
Every day, I cooked meals and went out feeding dogs, cats, cows, monkeys, and every helpless animal I came across.
Slowly, this stopped being an act of kindness. It became my life's purpose. Today, my mornings begin with these beautiful souls, and my nights end thinking about their well-being.
A Dream Bigger Than Me
Today, I have one dream. To build an Animal Hospital and Rescue Shelter where no injured animal suffers on the streets without treatment.
A place where every sick, abandoned, and injured animal receives timely medical care. A place where no pet parent loses their beloved companion simply because they cannot afford treatment.
A place where every innocent life gets a second chance.
The Greatest Truth
People often tell me that I changed the lives of these animals. But the truth is exactly the opposite. They changed mine.
If Noddy had never come into my life, I may never have understood that love doesn't need words. A silent soul can change your entire life's direction.
Even today, whenever I carry an injured animal in my arms, feed a hungry one, or help save a life, I feel as though Noddy is somewhere above, smiling.
"Everything I am today... I owe to him. Perhaps God didn't send Noddy into my life for only four years. Perhaps He sent him to show me the purpose of my life."
Noddy may have left this world... But before leaving, he gave me an entire family.
Today, every rescued, abandoned, and voiceless animal is part of that family. And they are my world.
